How do I calculate volume?

Choose the shape and enter its dimensions: a box is length × width × height, a cylinder π r² h, a sphere 4/3 π r³ and a cone ⅓ π r² h. A 30 × 20 × 10 cm box holds 6,000 cm³, which is 6 litres.

Handy conversions

  • 1 litre = 1,000 cm³ = 0.001 m³
  • 1 m³ = 1,000 litres
  • 1 ft³ ≈ 28.32 litres
