How do I calculate my average stock price?

Average price = total amount paid ÷ total shares. For 10 shares at 150, 5 at 120 and 20 at 135, the total cost is 4,800 for 35 shares, so the average price is 137.14.

Averaging down

Buying more shares after the price falls lowers your average cost, so the stock needs to rise less for you to break even — but it also increases your exposure to that company. Enter the current price to see your gain or loss.
