Change Image DPI

Set the DPI of JPG and PNG images (e.g. 300 DPI for print) without re-compressing or changing the pixels.

How do I change an image to 300 DPI?

Choose your JPG or PNG files, enter the DPI (for example 300) and press Change DPI. Only the resolution value stored in the file header (JFIF for JPG, pHYs for PNG) is changed — the pixels are untouched, so there is no quality loss.

What DPI really does

DPI only tells printers how large to print the image: a 3000 × 2000 px photo at 300 DPI prints 10 × 6.7 inches (25.4 × 16.9 cm). It does not add detail. If a print shop or form asks for "300 DPI", they usually also need enough pixels — check with the PPI / DPI calculator.

Frequently asked questions
