Hours Calculator (Time Card)

Add up work hours from start and end times with breaks, overnight shifts, overtime and pay.

Runs instantly in your browser — results update as you type.

How do I calculate hours worked?

Subtract the start time from the end time and take off unpaid breaks. A 09:00–17:30 shift with a 30-minute break is 8 hours (8.00 decimal hours). Enter one shift per line and the tool totals the week, overtime and pay.

Format

Write each shift as Mon: 09:00 - 17:30, 30 — the day label is optional and the number after the comma is the break in minutes. 12-hour times like 9am - 6pm also work, and overnight shifts such as 22:00 - 06:00 are handled automatically.

Decimal hours

Payroll uses decimal hours: 7 h 45 m = 7.75 h, 8 h 20 m = 8.33 h (minutes ÷ 60).
