What do I need on my final exam?

Required final score = (target grade × total weight − current grade × completed weight) ÷ final exam weight. With an 84% average on 70% of the course and a final worth 30%, you need (85 × 100 − 84 × 70) ÷ 30 ≈ 87.3% for an 85% overall.

Frequently asked questions

What if the weights do not add up to 100?

The current grade is averaged over the completed weight; the tool tells you the total.

What does a result above 100% mean?

The target cannot be reached on the final alone without extra credit.

Can I use points instead of percentages?

Convert each score to a percentage first (points ÷ maximum × 100).
