Base64 to Image Converter

Decode a Base64 string or data URI back to an image you can preview and download.

How do I convert Base64 to an image?

Decoding Base64 turns the text encoding of an image back into the original binary file, which you can then view and save as a normal image.

How to use

  1. Paste a full data URI (data:image/png;base64,…) or just the Base64 part.
  2. The tool detects the image type from the data, shows a preview with its dimensions and lets you download it.

It recognises PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP and SVG. Whitespace and line breaks in the string are ignored, and a CSS url("…") wrapper is removed automatically.

Useful for extracting images from HTML emails, CSS files, API responses and database fields. Convert the other way with the Image to Base64 Converter.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I get "not valid Base64"?

The string contains characters outside the Base64 alphabet or was cut off. Copy the complete value.

Do I need the data:image prefix?

No, the type is detected automatically if the prefix is missing.

Is the data uploaded?

No, decoding happens in your browser.
