Flatten PDF

Flatten PDF form fields so filled-in values cannot be changed — or rasterise pages to burn in comments and annotations.

How do I flatten a PDF?

Flattening merges interactive layers into the page. Choose "Flatten form fields" to turn filled-in form values into normal page content while text stays selectable, or "Rasterise every page" to convert pages to images so comments, stamps, signatures and annotations are burned in too.

When to flatten

  • Before sending a completed form so values cannot be changed.
  • When annotations or form fields print incorrectly or disappear in some viewers.
  • Before merging PDFs that contain conflicting form fields.

Keep a copy of the original — flattening cannot be undone.

Frequently asked questions

Is the file uploaded?

No, flattening happens entirely in your browser.

Will text stay searchable?

With form flattening, yes. Rasterising turns pages into images, so text is no longer selectable.

Is it free?

Yes.
