How do I test if my microphone is working?

Press Open mic test, then Start and allow microphone access. Speak: the level meter and waveform should move, and the tool shows the device name and sample rate. Press Stop to play back what was recorded.

No sound? Check these

Allow the microphone in the address bar (lock icon → Microphone → Allow).
Check the mute switch on your headset and the input device in system sound settings.
Close other apps that use the microphone (Zoom, Teams, Discord).
On Windows: Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone → allow browsers.

Is the test recorded or uploaded?

The short test recording stays in your browser for playback and is never uploaded.

What is a good level?

Normal speech should reach about a third to two-thirds of the meter without hitting the red end.

Does it work on phones?
