Volume Booster (Make Audio Louder)

Make quiet audio louder or normalise it to full volume, with soft limiting to avoid harsh clipping.

How do I make an audio file louder?

Choose the audio file and either boost it by a number of decibels or normalise it to maximum, then press Boost volume. The tool reports the old and new peak levels and softly limits any peaks that would clip.

How much to boost?

  • +6 dB roughly doubles the sound pressure and sounds clearly louder.
  • +10 dB sounds about twice as loud to the ear.
  • Normalize raises the loudest peak to just below 0 dBFS with no clipping — the cleanest option.

If you see a clipping warning, use a smaller boost or Normalize.

Frequently asked questions

Will it distort?

Peaks that would exceed the maximum are softly limited; large boosts can still sound compressed.

Does it remove noise?

No — background noise gets louder too.

Is it private?

Yes, processing is local.
