Typing Speed Test (WPM)

Test your typing speed in words per minute and accuracy with a 30, 60 or 120-second test — or your own text.

How fast can I type? How do I test my WPM?

Choose a test length and start typing the text shown: the timer starts with your first key, correct letters turn green and mistakes red, and you see your net words per minute (correct characters ÷ 5 per minute) and accuracy live. You can also paste your own practice text.

What is a good typing speed?

  • Below 30 WPM: beginner — learn touch typing with all ten fingers.
  • 40 WPM: average adult.
  • 60–80 WPM: fast; good for office and programming jobs.
  • 100+ WPM: professional typists and competitions.

Tips to type faster

Keep your fingers on the home row (ASDF JKL;), look at the screen not the keyboard, and practise accuracy first — speed follows.
