Text to Speech (Read Aloud)

Read any text aloud in your browser with your device’s voices — choose the voice, speed and pitch.

How can I have text read aloud online?

Paste or type the text, press Prepare, choose a voice and press Play. The tool uses your browser’s built-in Web Speech API, so it is free, works offline with local voices and the text is not sent to us.

Getting the best voice

  • Microsoft Edge offers natural-sounding "Online (Natural)" voices in many languages.
  • Chrome includes Google voices; Safari uses Apple’s high-quality Siri voices.
  • The voice list depends on your device and its installed languages.

Uses

Proofreading your writing by ear, listening to articles while multitasking, language pronunciation practice and accessibility for people with dyslexia or low vision.

Frequently asked questions

Can I download the audio as MP3?

Browsers do not let websites record built-in voices, so the speech can be played but not saved as a file.

Which languages are supported?

Every language that has a voice on your device — usually dozens, including English, Spanish, Hindi, Arabic and Chinese.

Is there a length limit?

No hard limit; for very long texts some browsers stop after a few minutes, so paste a section at a time.
