QR Code Scanner (from Image)

Read a QR code from a photo or screenshot — see the link, Wi-Fi password or text inside before you open it.

How do I scan a QR code from an image?

Choose a photo or screenshot that contains a QR code (on a phone you can take a new photo). The tool decodes it in your browser and shows the content — a link, text, Wi-Fi network, contact card or email — without opening anything automatically.

What it can read

  • Links — shown with a safety reminder and quick links to check where they lead.
  • Wi-Fi codes — network name, security type and password.
  • vCards, emails, phone numbers, SMS and calendar events.
  • Plain text of any length.

Scanning tips

Make sure the whole code, including its white border, is in the picture, sharp and evenly lit. Dark-on-light and inverted (light-on-dark) codes both work.

Frequently asked questions

Is the image uploaded?

No, decoding happens on your device with the open-source jsQR library.

Why use this instead of my camera app?

It works on desktop, reads screenshots and shows the full content before you open anything — safer against malicious "quishing" codes.

Can it read barcodes?

It reads QR codes only; one-dimensional barcodes are not supported.
