IP Address Lookup

Look up any IP or domain: country, network owner, IP range, provider and reverse DNS.

What can an IP lookup tell you?

An IP address lookup shows who an IP address belongs to and where it is registered: the country, the organisation or hosting provider that owns the network, the IP range and the reverse DNS hostname.

Where the data comes from

  • Country — the GeoLite2 database by MaxMind, with the regional internet registry as backup.
  • Network owner and range — official registration data from the regional internet registries (ARIN, RIPE, APNIC, LACNIC, AFRINIC) via RDAP.
  • Reverse DNS — the PTR hostname, which often reveals the provider.

Enter a domain to look up the server it is hosted on; every IP address the domain resolves to is listed.

How accurate is IP location?

Country is accurate for most IPs. City-level location is unreliable and is not shown: an IP shows where a network is registered or routed, not where a person is. VPNs, mobile networks and CDNs make location even less precise.

Frequently asked questions

Can an IP address show someone's home address?

No. Public IP data only shows the network owner and approximate country.

Why does a website IP show a CDN?

Sites behind Cloudflare, CloudFront or Fastly resolve to the CDN's servers, which hide the real origin server.

Does it support IPv6?

Yes, both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are supported.
