File Checksum Calculator (MD5, SHA-256)

Calculate MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512 and CRC32 checksums of any file, and verify a download.

How do I verify a file’s checksum?

Choose the file and paste the checksum published by the developer; the tool computes MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512 and CRC32 locally and tells you whether any of them matches. A match proves the file is exactly the original, uncorrupted and unmodified.

Command-line equivalents

  • Windows: certutil -hashfile file.iso SHA256
  • macOS: shasum -a 256 file.iso
  • Linux: sha256sum file.iso

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded?

No, hashing happens on your device, even for large files.

Is MD5 still safe?

Fine for detecting corruption, but broken for security — prefer SHA-256.

What is the size limit?

Up to 1 GB in the browser.
