What is breadcrumb schema?

Breadcrumb schema (BreadcrumbList) is structured data that describes where a page sits in a site's hierarchy — for example Home › Blog › SEO Guide — so Google can show that trail in search results.

How to use

  1. Enter one breadcrumb per line as Name | URL, starting with the home page.
  2. The last item (the current page) may omit the URL.
  3. Copy the JSON-LD into the page.

Positions are numbered automatically. Use the same names and order as the visible breadcrumb navigation on the page, and full absolute URLs.

Paste the generated <script type="application/ld+json"> block anywhere in the page's HTML (the head is common), then validate it with Google's Rich Results Test or our Structured Data Checker. Markup must describe content that is visible on the page.
