What is Article schema?

Article schema is structured data for blog posts and news stories that tells search engines the headline, images, author and publish date, which Google can use for article display and Top Stories.

Recommended properties

  • headline — under 110 characters.
  • image — at least one large image (1200 px wide); add 16:9, 4:3 and 1:1 versions if you have them.
  • datePublished and dateModified — update dateModified only when the content really changes.
  • author — a person with a profile URL builds trust (E-E-A-T).

Choose BlogPosting for blog posts and NewsArticle for news sites; both are kinds of Article.
